CodeIgniter Account Changes
Ladies and gentleman, you might have noticed that when coming to the CodeIgniter website today you were logged out and your login no longer seemed to work. We apologize for that, but it had to be done in order to combine all of our sites into one ExpressionEngine installation during our launch. Certain fields in ExpressionEngine have to be unique, including your member id and username. Since pMachine.com contained over 37,000 members, there were bound to be numerous conflicts during our importing of the CodeIgniter.com members. To keep ourselves from running potentially thousands of queries doing checks for repeats, we made a decision to simply prefix every CodeIgniter member’s username with a simple ‘ci_’ string when we imported them. So, if your username was ‘john’, it is now ‘ci_john’. When you login for the first time after , you will be asked to change your username and remove the prefix. As screen names are meant to be unique as well, many of you will find a similar ‘CI’ prefix add to your screen names. You are, of course, free to remove this or keep it to identify yourself among the greater EllisLab community.
I hope you will understand that we did this with greater goals in mind and that it is only a one time moment of inconvenience. Feel free to email me, if you have questions or concerns. Oh, and welcome to the EllisLab community!
On a related note, many people joined both the pMachine and CodeIgniter communities at one time or another. Now that we are all together, a few of you have expressed interest in merging your accounts. That will be possible in the near future. A merge script has already been written and should be available in the coming week after we catch up on a bit of sleep from the launch.
