Reddit/Digg featurs for forum?

As I have become more and more acquainted with CodeIgniter, I’ve come across some great discussions in these forums. The problem, it seems, is these posts are way too difficult to find when doing a quick search. Making “good” posts easier to find would a) decrease the number of repeat topics that crop up in the form and b) help out the more novice users by exposing them to the best material on certain subjects quickly.

Obviously significant changes in the EE forum module would need to be made, but it would be great to see some of the following features added. Ideally, some sort of algorithm would be written that would provide better search results based on some of the following criteria: (1) a digg/reddit like vote up/down system so that active members could rate the usefulness of discussions, and (2) consideration of number of times a post has been viewed, as well as (3) number of posts in the discussion.

Please consider this a humble feature request and not a knock on the excellent work the guys at Ellis Labs are doing.

I like the voting idea.

There is a feature request section on the EE forums. Your login will work over there to so you might want to post it on there.

George: The theory is sound, but only fully paid up EE users may post to that forum, I am afraid. Still might be moved, of course.

Everything will be good in the end. If it’s not good, it’s not the end.

I posted it here: http://expressionengine.com/forums/viewthread/77843/

Hopefully that is appropriate enough, as I couldn’t post into the feature request section.

Next thing would be voting up/down members smile

A did you find this useful vote on the responses/topics would be great certainly when it would be combined with search results. But also a list of most useful topics/responses would take away the requests for faqs and sticky topics.
