Well it has been a few months in the making but we at PX Webdesign are proud to announce that we have (finally) hit the final release (after many extra days of testing and usability checks) of our in-house CMS - Breeze.
Click here to see the screenshots of the system so far.
This is our 3rd version/rewrite of the CMS and is now based on CI after falling in love with it to build one of our own web applications - Wheelsr. There was so many features and advantages to using CI that it prompted me to start our re-development of Breeze based on it. Below are just a few of the many features we have in Breeze:
Website Templates
- Ability for owner change template for website
- Templates can have alternative pages for user registration/edit forms
- Templates can have alternative pages/views for installed modules
Content Management
- Ability to add/update/remove menu items (ajax based for re-ordering of items)
- On-site and administration content editor based on tinyMCE using our own ajax based Image Manager with automatic thumbnailing
- Search Engine Friendly menu item URLs (eg. http://www.domain.com/services/design.html)
User Management
- Creation and modification of registered users
- Ability for users to register (with optional confirmation codes) and edit their own details
- User activity logs (used mainly for administration)
Modules
- Based on Matchbox (big thanks to Zach!) but with a lot of flexibility for management
- Automated module management and administration
- Modules are installed as copying module folder to main modules folder
System Setup
- Ability to alter website settings such as title, keywords, content editor width and content image thumbnail sizes
The CMS will be used exclusively for our clients only as our core business is providing a complete solution to our clients with the CMS being an integral part of that. We do not have the support resources to release this as a CMS for developers to build upon - thats what EE is best suited for!
A big thanks as always to the crew at EllisLab especially the Derek Duo for releasing such a great framework in an open source format. Also to Zacharias for Matchbox and Michael Wales for pushing for the use of Salted Passwords.
Lastly, thanks to the rest of the community for their support and great atmosphere on the forum. And to show our thanks We will be releasing back to the community some of the libraries we have developed such as file management and hierarchal menu management in the next month.
