Well it has been a few months in the making but we at PX Webdesign are proud to announce that we have (finally) hit the final release (after many extra days of testing and usability checks) of our in-house CMS - Breeze.

Click here to see the screenshots of the system so far.

This is our 3rd version/rewrite of the CMS and is now based on CI after falling in love with it to build one of our own web applications - Wheelsr. There was so many features and advantages to using CI that it prompted me to start our re-development of Breeze based on it. Below are just a few of the many features we have in Breeze:

Website Templates
- Ability for owner change template for website
- Templates can have alternative pages for user registration/edit forms
- Templates can have alternative pages/views for installed modules

Content Management
- Ability to add/update/remove menu items (ajax based for re-ordering of items)
- On-site and administration content editor based on tinyMCE using our own ajax based Image Manager with automatic thumbnailing
- Search Engine Friendly menu item URLs (eg. http://www.domain.com/services/design.html)

User Management
- Creation and modification of registered users
- Ability for users to register (with optional confirmation codes) and edit their own details
- User activity logs (used mainly for administration)

Modules
- Based on Matchbox (big thanks to Zach!) but with a lot of flexibility for management
- Automated module management and administration
- Modules are installed as copying module folder to main modules folder

System Setup
- Ability to alter website settings such as title, keywords, content editor width and content image thumbnail sizes

The CMS will be used exclusively for our clients only as our core business is providing a complete solution to our clients with the CMS being an integral part of that. We do not have the support resources to release this as a CMS for developers to build upon - thats what EE is best suited for!

A big thanks as always to the crew at EllisLab especially the Derek Duo for releasing such a great framework in an open source format. Also to Zacharias for Matchbox and Michael Wales for pushing for the use of Salted Passwords.

Lastly, thanks to the rest of the community for their support and great atmosphere on the forum. And to show our thanks We will be releasing back to the community some of the libraries we have developed such as file management and hierarchal menu management in the next month.

If you have any questions, suggestions or comments about Breeze feel free to reply smile

So EE is not good enough for you guys, you want more money raspberry the screenshots are great.

But i have one question does it handle an item that needs to go up or down lets say ten places or more?

really nice CMS you have built there, the admin looks easy to use, the features list is extensive. Well done, and will you ever release to the public.

xwero: Whilst EE is a great product, we like to provide custom solutions to suit our clients of which around 95% are businesses with minor web management knowledge and as a result we really try to reduce any ‘bulk’ and features that we know that they will not be using. EE is built for a more broader audience much like say Joomla which we steered away from around 2 years ago after realising how confusing it can be for clients to use due to the extensive amount of features.

Your good at finding flaws aren’t you! That is one thing that our system does not have the ability to do (at the moment) but we do find that it isn’t as limiting/annoying as other CMS’s out there as the re-ordering is ajax based and therefore no long page loads or having to scroll down each time you move an item one position.

WackyWebs.net: What do you exactly mean by the public - do you mean for purchasing by other developers to use for their own clients or releasing it as open source/free product?

I have encountered the same problem my solution was to create an extra input field next to the up/ down arrows where people can add a number. So entering 10 and clicking on the up or down arrow moves the item ten places. I though you guys had found a solution that is lacking in most of the other CMS software. My secret is out use it wisely wink

I did mean something like that, but then i realised the potential you have of keeping it to yourself, if you were to sell it to other developers clients may go to them because there cheaper. So your better off keeping the software for your clients only.

Looks good and at times similar to something I’m working on, Matchbox is a great help for making a modular cms. I also have arrow sorting (no ajax) but will soon look in to fancy dragdrop sorting like in basecamp.

Let me know when this launches, too.  How will you be offering it (i.e. what license)?

Nice looking CMS, it appears very intuitive which is a big plus for clients. The less training the better! I also like how simple and clean the UI is. Good work! Any chance for an online demo to have a closer look at?
