freak auth will not manage your unregistred user, any system will not manage unregistred user, we just call this public webpage.

but why not build a demo ??

Very reasonable. smile

but why not build a demo ??

I might do that. Now, to demo it, I need to capture some info about the user’s choices, in a database, so that PHP can still get to it between page refreshes. Since there may be several people using the demo at once, I guess I need to give each user of the demo, a temporary ID number. Then on the next page refresh, the demo can look up their data (say, data from a form they entered on a previous page), and use it to build the next page.

I thought I might just generate a random number and store it in a cookie on the user’s browser - but then I remembered, that IIRC, many browsers have cookies disabled. What is the normal way of handling this sort of situation? Another way of looking at this is to ask, how does FreakAuth know, even after a page refresh, that a browser is that of a particular user, if the user has cookies disabled?

i’m not sure about the fact that some user can’t use the same username to log on.

maybe you will need to hack the code a little bit, but prolly possible.

in other way, you can let them just register for demo account and auto- accept them with a level special for DEMO asked like.

this is another solution.

Is there a way to secure a folder containing images and documents - word, excel, ppt, pdf? I have some files that I need to have access control and wonder if I can use Freakauth for it.

Thanks.

Info on password-protecting a folder, on the Apache web server, is here.

I need the fuctionalites of freakauth to manage the users and access control on controllers/functions as well.

So I guess the solution will be to show the individual documents through php using “fpassthru” to read the file from the protected (hidden) folder and show it using a controller with the correct mine headers?

Or perhaps I’ll try using the CI download helper.

Thanks.

The “home” tab on the FA Administration Console, and the “admin” tab on the “Welcome to FreakAuth_light” page, both link to “admin.html.” But, there doesn’t seem to be an “admin.html” file in the FA 1.1 download. Is it missing?

Take a look at your routes.php files and indeed at the extension .html in the config.php

you’ll see.

Is is possible to have multiple roles per user, without having the group hierarchy? IE, I have several user types, some have different permissions, but not necessarily hierarchal permissions.

TIA,
cotton
