The purpose of this forum is to enable community members to share code snippets, examples, libraries, etc.  The Wiki currently serves this purpose but doesn’t allow discussion, so we thought it would be beneficial to create a separate forum.  Enjoy!

This is a great idea!  Maybe now it will be a little better moderated than the wiki.

Wish I has some code to post.

Great.
Can somebody move the releveant threads that deal with this topic from the “Code and Application Development” and “CI discussion” section ? I think we should make a sticky for the most relevant contributions that work with the current version of CI.

Greetings Jan.

I know that CI forge is ot an officially sanctioned project, but since it is dedictad to Code Igniter, I would like to mentioned that it serves a similar purpose.

I would recommend that the project deserve some credit by means of a link soemwhere on the CI site.

Thanks.

I agree. Right now everyone (including me) seems to forget about that one.

What is your stand towards multi-post tutorials and such? Would you rather have that added in the Wiki with a short presentation here or is it ok to do it directly (and perhaps add a Wiki entry later)?

Also, is it possible you could a list code for the wiki? Currently people use - * ^ and all sorts of weird signs for lists and it sort of breaks the overall “look” wink

Hey Jan.

If you have specific threads, I’d be happy to move them.  Fire of a URL to me, then I’ll contact the original author to ask their permission, then move it!

This is just my opinion, not an official statement.  Personally, I’d prefer to have the actual code in the wiki, with an announcement made after that into these forums.  Again, just my opinion.

That does seem sensible, but on the other hand how about getting CI’s official svn more usable and open to the community?
As long as CI Forge remains unofficial, it is surely up to Forgers to let the forum know what’s happening there but they don’t seem to be doing it - unless I keep missing something. (“What, you? Miss something? Surely not….”)

I couldn’t agree more, but would the SVN not be more suitable for official Code Igniter releases, while CI Forge will cater more for user contributions.

Personally, I think that the Development Team should let CI Forge take its own course, and not try and take over the function that the Forge serves. It’s important that users are able to group themselves outside of the corporate structures of the project (and there’s no debate that the CI project has been corporatised - this was made clear by Rick himself - and we are seeing some positive results of this action).
