I’ve been working as a web developer, mostly in Perl, for almost 10 years now.
A few years back I drank the kool-aid on clean code after having read Code Complete and working on a team where the programming standards were incredibly high.
Now I’m in a new job, working on a big ball of mud and spaghetti. This has motivated me to do more coding in my spare time, and Code Igniter grabbed my attention immediately.
I played with RoR a few months back. After comparing their “blog in 20 minutes” video vs. the CI version, CI comes out on top for many reasons, not least of which is that I could actually follow along and do it at the same time.
Hey CodeIgniter! We’re gonna be friends, you and I.
Since you’re about the first girl here on in the CI forums (at least I haven’t seen any other) AND you’re a coder AND you’re good looking, I gotta be fast and do something about that before the others come: Will you please marry me?
OK, now seriously: Welcome aboard. With a background in Perl, I guess you shouldn’t really have problems with PHP or CI!

I guess it’s not a mystery why this attractive young lady is getting a better response on her introduction than I did… but it’s OK, I only cry on the inside
Tee-hee… welcome to you from another forum newbie!
I actually took an Advance Perl course that was taught by Tom Christiansen back in the heady days of the tech bubble when I was working at Nortel Networks.
