The new design is gorgeous.  Looks much more solid than the previous design.  The unified branding of the EllisLab network is great.

Very exciting stuff!

I reported that yesterday BUT I forgot to mention the Firefox/Windows setup. Thanks rk99.

Thanks again for the feedback guys.  The list of bugs you are finding is really helping.  We will work to get these solved shortly though everyone is in Texas right now!

“Screw all the nay-sayers. The new brand image is insanely wonderful. Congratulations to everyone involved.”

What about the navigation issues? Ellislab folks are being great about bug fixes but they haven’t touched the glaring usability issues introduced with the new (fabulous) design.

1.) Mystery tabs - Tabs disappear for no user-centered reason. Probably just an “easy to pull off,” decision based on a back-end decision that should have had NO impact on the interface design. (presuming there even was an interface design)

2.) Logo changes function - At some points it takes you back to the home page as it should. In others it takes you to the forum home page.

Far less important: Color of documentation and forums appear as though they are on a different site. Again, interface decisions being made as the result of a back end decision that should have had no impact on the interface.

As for the design nay-sayers: get over it. The new branding and design is astoundingly well designed. The designer is seriously one of the best in the WORLD. You should check out his other stuff. I keep going to the home page just to marvel at it’s beauty.

Yeah, spot on with the inconsistency issues, especially the logo.. that is strange. “I keep going to the home page just to marvel at it’s beauty.” Same here, bro.

I just went to Code Igniter to download 1.5.2, and Wow! Great job! I always liked the old site a lot, but this looks great - a lot more pop!

One problem though, on my Thinkpad R50e running Firefox on Debian: When I went to the News about “New Websites and a New Name!” the page was nearly unreadable. The faint text doesn’t have enough contrast with the dark reddish background to be legible. I had to switch my browser setting to “no Style” to read the article. ‘Probably not a problem on other notebooks / browsers / OSs, ‘cause I read all the posts and didn’t see anyone else with the same issue, but I knew you’d want to know.

I am greatly enjoying the design - it was a wonderful surprise!

I am running Ubuntu Edgy Eft with FireFox 2.0.0.2 and so far no issues at all (although it admittedly took me a while to figure out the correct login sequence).

Wonderful job! It is an inspiring design too…

I am also running Ubuntu though I am still on the Dapper version.  I am always impressed to see a site that renders well with the Liux versions of Firefox.  Nobody is going to care about their pages not rendering properly on Linux.  raspberry

The design is nice, more commercial.  The previous site sort of had that open source ‘we don’t care about design’ kind of feel, which probably appealed to a lot of programmers. This will also appeal, but to different people.

It’s more of a traditional commercial design rather than a “Web 2.0” design, which from a marketing perspective, may make it less appealing to people who are shopping around for the RoR of PHP.  But if you’re not targeting that group it doesn’t matter.

Good work!

Hello

Although I could log on successfully, and changed my username from ci_ to its original version… when I tried replying to a post, I’m told:

“Error Message:  Unable to receive your submission at this time”

What’s that?

Thanks.
