Suggest a forum for third-party libraries, etc.

I’m just wondering if it would be a good time to create a new Forum area for third-party or user-developed libraries, plugins, etc.

It might help newcomers to identify features that are part of the core distribution, or not.  And it might help those who are developing those components not to be scattered all over the forum. Or in the other direction, having everything appended to the same thread. The FreakAuth thread is over 12 pages now, and I would think it would be better for those using FreakAuth to have several threads instead, especially if they were in the same Forum area.

Or does this matter?

I think that’s great idea.

I completely agree. When I first found out about CI, it was difficult trying to find third party addons (I had to run a few searches to realize there was a wiki). I think a third party forum would be great.

I just came across this.  I generally agree, but couldn’t the wiki serve this to some degree?  You create an entry for your app and then link to it?  Actually, I like the idea of a different forum for these apps but I thought I would just ask the question.  wink

Good idea. This will reduce the clutter in the CI forums and also provide third parties with a ready made area
to discuss their stuff.

The wiki does provide some ability to put up information, but to answer a quick question or whatever, another
forum area would be better.
