I’d like to learn more about this as well. I’ve read the article and was hoping to find some details. I was disappointed when I realized it led to a book sale. Not that I can afford it, but I just don’t know if it’s worth the time effort. I looked at the PEAR doco for the tools involved and it’s next to non-existent. I’d hope the PEAR folk would pick up on this a little more if it were such a hot topic.
I have and SVN server and [most] of customers have the svn client installed on their servers. This allows me to ssh in and just update their sites pretty easily. However I’d be interested in an alternative that doesn’t require svn for client that don’t have it. Clearly ftp-syncing blows chuncks.
One thing I’d primarily like to know is whether the PEAR installer method can be used for websites where you don’t have access to pear for installing the require modules. In other words, could install the req’d mods in your webspace and work with this?
