I just finished my first “real” app using CI… I♥Rant.com started as a weekend project designed to test drive Code Igniter. It is a simple app (no big whoop) that took about 8 hours to complete,  including the design and the ajax stuff. Another 2 hours went into making the css compatible with IE 7 wink

The site was created in order for you to have a place to complain about everything that bothers you.

Let me know what you think smile

Hi Ran.
Tell the guy who hates smoking teachers to stop smoking them.
Personally I don’t like light text on dark background, but otherwise you did a decent weekend’s work.

I’m with Martin about the light text on a dark background, but maybe it goes with the concept of a rant (?).

And probably the guy smoking teachers wasn’t doing it in class ... do they still have “bull pens”?
wink

But it’s a very nice first project.

Cool site, Ran. I disagree with Martin and linuxbz. As long as the contrast is high, I don’t mind light text on dark backgrounds. Black is back.

Yup, beautiful, and the design works great for me!

An excellent site!  I hope to see you hang around a lot more now in the forums and impart your wisdom to us!  Thanks for this!

Thanks for you kind words! I had fun making this little app, and I got to know CI a lot better. I’ve stopped the development of 2 projects I was 50%-70% through and I’m re-doing them all in CI now.

Kepp on ranting…

Hi Ran, I love it! I also couldn’t resist posting on there. Theres plenty more where that came from.

PS, do you mind if I have a nose at how you managed to make the Ajax ‘Barbers Pole’ progress bar? I want to make something like that myself.

There are many pages like this: http://www.ajaxload.info/.

They are just animated GIFs.

Very impressive Ran. Its amazing what you have done with AJAX. Great idea too.
Maybe you can give us a little tutorial on mixing CI and Ajax. smile

I will release my code in 1-2 days (I’m commenting it so it will be clearer for people to understand what I did).

Thanks for loving the site… Keep on ranting!
