i get the ff. warning after a few loads/refreshes but doesn’t appear once you hit refresh right after:

it also occurs on other controller scripts.  but the note on the Session.php library is common on all warnings.  has anyone else experienced this and fixed it?  if so, please help!

There have been lots of reports of this.  Try searching the forums.  The answer is likely that you have spaces or line breaks before or after <?php, or that you are otherwise echoing out content.

no extra spaces or lines.  the problem didn’t occur when i was on 1.4.x.  it started when i upgraded to 1.5.0 and later to 1.5.1.  also, the problem occurs sporadically.  whenever it occurs, i just hit refresh w/o modifying any code, and the warning disappears.

If you’re sure there is no whitespace, something in “provctl.php” is throwing and error an causing output before your headers are sent. Possibly trying to read from the session before it is started. That may be why it’s intermittent and clears up after a refresh.

ack! got it. it’s a problem with my previous editor.  the default file settings added extra characters which didn’t show in the new editor i’m using.

For cool corey, I would recommend getting a LiveCD like Knoppix and booting from that.  That will put you in a Linux system without messing with your hard drive.

You should then be able to browse the web and do enough stuff on your computer to rule out hardware problems. The Knoppix programs load slowly because they come from the CD, but they should execute quickly after they load.

This is the best way I know to diagnose Windows virus/spyware/rootkit problems.  A lot of Windows sysadmins keep such a CD handy just for this purpose.  You can even use it to repair certain problems that are almost impossible to fix from WITHIN a messed up system.
