I noticed that anchor popup function creates an anchor link with target “_blank” attribute. Beside that I think it’s useless, there is a problem with firefox: instead of opening a popup window, the window is open in new tab.

Somebody has had my problem?

I noticed that anchor popup function creates an anchor link with target “_blank” attribute. Beside that I think it’s useless, there is a problem with firefox: instead of opening a popup window, the window is open in new tab.

The firefox tab thing is controlled by each individual browser.  There’s nothing you as the author can do to over-ride firefox opening anchors with target blank into tabs.  You could open windows with javascript, or better yet, find a way to present your information without needing to launch it into a new window or popup.

Roger, over at 456 Berea Street has a good solution for new window links. While they’re not the best design choice, there unfortunately are situations where they’re required (especially by a client) ...

is completely unobtrusive, and still validates xhtml. Problem with _BLANK, et al, is that they’re not XHTML compliant, and pretty depreciated! :D
