some people asked howto create utf8 pdf`s. I was asking myself too about that issue a long time,
We can use for pdfs that library (ufpdf) based on fpdf.org library. It support php4, you should only add that class to your controller.

Using of ufpdf is the same like using fpdf. there is some tutorial about that at fpdf.org. I`m sending below file with fonts for pdf from phpmyadmin.

yes there is sans - unicode - font

so in that case “arial unicode ms” should also do.

I would love to see any libraries you have converted for CI use for PDF handling.  I have an application that will be doing a large amount of this shortly.
